Ready to "Break Free"?

Orlando Hip-Hop is in uncontaminated hands

What we have come to know and love as Hip-Hop has evolved immensely in the past decade, some feel for the better, some feel for the worse. With the focus shifting from meaningful lyricism & crafty story telling to a banging baseline & catchy melody; Brutal Black definitely has something to say in regards, and the sentiment was skillfully & clearly expressed in his latest project...

The Break Free project is pretty much a lyrical onslaught from start to finish, with the sole feature being Jake the Adolescent on "Try Ya Best," which happens to be a standout track, along with the featureless "Kicko Mode" which seemed to be a showcase of brute lyrical force over an array of well-mixed classic samples. Just listen, so you can understand.

As made obvious from the first few bars you've maybe already heard, Brutal Black is a high level MC born in Manhattan, New York & bread right here in Orlando, and who happens to make good music at that. Having listened to this album a few times already, its clear that he has an old school influence (having referenced several greats dating back to the early 90's) & a big time passion for the art! Which of course is something that can be appreciated by any listener, myself included.
